What is MeshXi?
MeshXi is a private messenger built for the real world — where networks jam, data packs run out, and sometimes you just don’t want to be tracked. When the internet is up, it’s a fast, modern messenger. When it’s down, your phones find each other directly and keep talking.
Anonymous by design
You are a code name like aTDqwA — generated on your phone, tied to nothing. No number, no email, nothing that links back to you.
Offline-first
Messages hop phone-to-phone over Bluetooth. Big photos and videos take the Wi-Fi Direct fast lane. No tower, no router, no problem.
Encrypted everything
Every message, call, photo and voice note is sealed on your phone and opened only on your friend’s. Whatever passes it along — our relay included — is carrying a sealed envelope it cannot open.
Up and running in a minute
No OTP. No contact-list upload. No permissions drama. Install, and you’re in.
Install MeshXi
Get it free on Google Play. Open it — that’s the whole sign-up.
Meet your code name
The app hands you an anonymous handle like QR7X2A. Add a display name if you want — or don’t.
Add a friend
Scan each other’s QR (even from a photo), type a 90-second code, or tap them in the Nearby list. Once is enough — forever.
Talk anywhere
Chat, call, share photos and voice notes — online or fully offline. The app picks the best path by itself.
No network? Your phones become the network.
Every MeshXi phone is a node. Messages leap directly between nearby phones over Bluetooth, hop through friends-of-friends, and can even be carried across town in a pocket — delivered the moment a path to your friend appears. Big files switch to Wi-Fi Direct at real Wi-Fi speed, and phones on the same network use it automatically.
Relaying phones move sealed envelopes only — they can’t open them, and messages that can’t be delivered yet wait safely and retry on their own. Honest range: Bluetooth reaches tens of metres per hop; more MeshXi phones around you = further reach.
Watch the network breathe.
A living 3D globe of how MeshXi moves messages — past trails, live routes and projected paths, with a timeline you can rewind and replay. Two counters on it are real; the map itself is simulated in your browser, because MeshXi keeps no location data to draw from. That is the point — and the page says so itself.

Everything a messenger should be
Modern, complete, and fast — with powers no ordinary app has.
Rich chats
Replies, forwards, pins, react with any emoji, edit or delete after sending, and *bold* / _italic_ that style live as you type.
Rooms up to 100
Share one with a link or a QR code, and set who may join, how long it lasts and who can invite. Multiple admins, announcement mode, member controls — and no server holding the room.
Encrypted calls
Sharp HD video that adjusts itself as your signal changes, pinch to zoom, low-light face brightening, screen share and voice-to-video mid-call — all end-to-end encrypted.
Walkie-talkie
Hold, speak, release — your voice plays out loud on the room’s phones instantly. Works on pure Bluetooth.
Voice disguise
Pick a voice — Cartoon, Machine or Stranger — and your calls and voice notes go out in it. Your real voice never leaves the phone. It changes how you sound; it is not a promise that someone who knows you will not recognise it.
Media fast lanes
Full-quality photos and videos jump straight between phones over Wi-Fi — the app finds the fastest way there by itself.
Emergency SOS
One press broadcasts a help alert with your location to your people — over the internet and the mesh at once.
Panic delete
One action wipes messages, contacts and your identity from the device beyond recovery. Triple-tap the logo for silent wipe.
Calls with no internet
Two phones on the same Wi-Fi, or joined straight to each other over Wi-Fi Direct, ring and talk with nothing in between — no tower, no relay, no server. The app picks that road by itself when it is there.
An identity that expires
Leave MeshXi unopened for 30 days and the phone wipes itself — keys, chats, identity — and starts fresh. A handset in a drawer stops being a record of you. Pick the window, or switch it off.
Tor is already on
Tor comes built into MeshXi — nothing to install, nothing to switch on, and no way to accidentally leave it off. Nothing reaches our relay until Tor can carry it, so the relay never sees your real internet address. If your network blocks Tor, add a bridge: obfs4 and Snowflake ship inside the app.
World Chat
One global room to meet people and swap handles. It is public on purpose — so it is the one place that is not end-to-end encrypted, and the app says so on screen.
Disappearing messages
Set a timer per chat and messages delete themselves on both phones — out of the encrypted database, not just hidden from view.
Survives a reinstall
A sealed snapshot stays on your own device, so deleting the app and installing it again brings your chats back — without a copy of them existing anywhere else.

Privacy isn’t a feature. It’s the foundation.
-
We have no server that stores you.
Not your messages, not your photos, not your contacts, not even a list of who you talk to. So there is nothing for us to sell, nothing to leak, and nothing to hand over if someone comes asking. We are not promising to keep it safe — we simply never have it.
-
Locked before it leaves your phone.
Every message, call, photo and voice note is locked on your phone and can only be opened on your friend’s. There is no setting that turns this off, because there is no unlocked mode to turn on.
-
You are a code name, not a phone number.
Your phone makes up a short code name for you the first time you open the app. No number, no email, no real name — so there is nothing for us to look you up by, even if someone asked us to.
-
Even the shape of your chat says nothing.
Every message is padded to the same handful of sizes, so anyone watching the network cannot tell a photo from a hello — or a busy chat from an empty one.
-
Your chats live on your phone, not with us.
Your history is locked away on your own device, behind your PIN or fingerprint. Uninstall the app, or use Panic delete, and it is gone for good.
WHAT MESHXI CAN SEE
- Your phone number — none exists
- Your contacts — never uploaded
- Your private messages — sealed end-to-end
- Your location — never collected
- Who you talk to offline — no server involved at all
- Your chat history — we have no server that keeps it
- Anything to sell — we hold nothing to sell
- A random code name, online, only while forwarding — that’s it

Questions, answered straight
What is MeshXi?
MeshXi is a free, private messenger for Android that works with or without the internet. There is no account and no phone number — your phone generates an anonymous handle the first time you open it. Messages, photos, calls and voice notes are end-to-end encrypted. When there is no network, phones pass messages to each other directly over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct, hop by hop. When there is a network, everything goes through Tor, so even our own relay never sees your IP address.
Is MeshXi the same app as “Mesh Xi” or “MeshX”?
Yes — those are just other ways people write the name. The app is MeshXi, one word, on Google Play under the package com.meshxi.app, and this site (meshxi.in) is its home.
Can I make a voice or video call with no internet?
Yes, when the other phone is reachable locally — on the same Wi-Fi, on a hotspot one of you makes, or joined directly over Wi-Fi Direct. The call is set up and carried between the two phones with no server in the middle. Bluetooth alone is not enough for a call: it carries text, voice notes and photos, but a live call needs more bandwidth than that radio has.
Does MeshXi use Tor? Do I need Orbot?
Tor is built into the app — there is nothing else to install and nothing to switch on. Whenever MeshXi uses the internet it goes through Tor, and nothing is sent to our relay until Tor can carry it, so the relay never sees your real address. If your network blocks Tor’s public entry points, you can paste a bridge; obfs4 and Snowflake ship inside the app, so those work too.
How is MeshXi different from Briar, Bridgefy or bitchat?
They all send messages with no internet; they differ in what they carry and what they ask of you. MeshXi moves photos and voice notes over the Bluetooth mesh (a large photo is shrunk to fit), does voice and video calls with no server when both phones are on the same Wi-Fi, and has Tor built in with obfs4 and Snowflake bridges. Briar is open source and more heavily audited, which is a real advantage MeshXi does not have yet. There is a full side-by-side, including where MeshXi loses, on the comparison page.
How can it work without internet — really?
Your phone’s Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios can talk directly to nearby phones — no tower needed. MeshXi uses Bluetooth to find MeshXi phones around you and pass messages, voice notes and photos along — a photo too big for the radio is made smaller automatically so it still arrives — and Wi-Fi Direct to move full-quality photos and videos at real Wi-Fi speed. Messages for someone out of reach wait safely and deliver the moment a path appears — including hitching a ride on the internet when it returns.
How far does offline messaging reach?
Honestly: one Bluetooth hop covers tens of metres, more in the open. But every MeshXi phone extends the mesh — your message can hop through phones between you and your friend, and even be physically carried and delivered later. The more people install MeshXi, the further everyone reaches.
Is it really private? Prove it.
Every message is encrypted on your device with keys only you and your friend hold; relays move sealed envelopes they cannot open. There is no phone number, no account and no contact upload, so there is nothing to link a handle to a person. Message sizes are padded so even traffic patterns leak nothing. And your history stays locked on your own phone, behind your PIN or fingerprint — never on a server of ours.
Why does it ask for Bluetooth and location permissions?
Android requires the Nearby/Bluetooth permission to discover phones around you, and on older Androids (11 and below) the OS bundles Bluetooth scanning under the location permission — that’s an Android rule, not our choice. MeshXi never reads or transmits your location, with one exception you control: the Emergency SOS button includes your coordinates in the alert so your people can find you.
Will it drain my battery?
MeshXi uses Bluetooth Low Energy — the same tech as your smartwatch — and automatically slows its scanning when your battery is low. Wi-Fi Direct powers up only for the seconds a big file is moving, then shuts off.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Your identity is protected by a 24-word recovery phrase (Settings → Identity) — write it down and keep it offline. With it, you can restore your identity on a new phone. Without your PIN or fingerprint, the encrypted vault on the lost phone stays locked.
Is MeshXi free? What’s the catch?
Free, no ads, no premium tiers, and we don’t sell data — there’s no data about you to sell. MeshXi is built by people who think private communication should simply exist.
Be reachable. Always.
Install MeshXi today — and the next time the network dies, you won’t.
