MeshXi has no accounts and no server that stores your chats. We never ask for your name, phone number or email. We run no advertising and no analytics. And we cannot read, sell or hand over your history — because we do not have it. It is on your phone, not with us.
The short version
- We have no server that stores your chats. Not your messages, not your photos, not your contacts, not a record of who you talk to. There is no database of you anywhere on our side.
- So we cannot sell it, leak it or hand it over. Not to an advertiser, not to a buyer, not to anyone who comes asking. You cannot give away what you never had.
- You are anonymous from the first second. No phone number, no email, no real name. Your phone makes up a short code name for you, and that is your whole identity here.
- Your chats live on your phone only, locked behind your PIN or fingerprint. Delete the app, or use Panic delete, and they are gone.
- Two phones near each other need no internet at all. Over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi your messages go straight from one phone to the other, with no company in the middle — ours included.
- No ads, no trackers, no analytics. Nothing inside the app is watching what you do.
Everything below says the same thing more carefully, including the parts that are not perfect. We would rather tell you those than let you assume something that is not true.
What identifies you
The first time you open the app, your phone creates a private key for you and turns it into
a short code name (for example shvhcQ). That code name is your whole identity
here. The private half never leaves your phone, and we never see it.
What we can and cannot see
- Private messages, photos, files and calls are end-to-end encrypted. Our relay is a plain forwarder: it passes along sealed bytes it cannot open, and keeps nothing. Call audio and video is scrambled directly between the two phones, so nobody in between — us included — can listen in.
- The relay briefly holds queued messages — still encrypted, including any photo, file, voice note or SOS alert — when the recipient is offline, and deletes them the moment they are delivered.
- We keep no call logs, no message history, no contact lists, no profile, and no advertising or analytics identifiers.
- Offline conversations never touch a server at all. Messages carried over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct travel straight between phones; relaying phones move sealed envelopes they cannot open.
Tor is built in
MeshXi has the real Tor software built in. There is nothing to install, no account and no switch to find: once it is ready, everything the app sends over the internet goes through Tor, so our relay sees Tor instead of your internet address — the number that shows roughly where in the world you are. While Tor is still starting up, the app connects the normal way and tells you on screen which route it is using.
Said plainly, because a privacy claim that overpromises is worse than none: Tor is run by the Tor project and volunteers around the world, not by us, and we get nothing back from it. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct never touch the internet at all, so Tor has no part to play there. And a voice or video call joins the two phones directly, which means the person you are calling can still see your internet address. The app warns you instead of pretending otherwise.
World Chat is public
World Chat is a public room. Anything you post there is visible to everyone in it and is stored on the server (most recent 50 posts) so people who join can see the conversation. Do not post anything private there. You can report any post and block any person from inside the app; reported posts are removed for everyone.
Data stored on your phone
Your messages, contacts and media are kept in a locked, encrypted store on your own device, opened only by your PIN or your fingerprint. Panic delete in Settings erases every bit of it, permanently — and there is no copy anywhere else to bring it back from.
Permissions and why
- Camera — video calls and taking photos to send.
- Microphone — voice calls and voice messages.
- Nearby devices / Bluetooth / Wi-Fi — finding people directly and moving files phone-to-phone when there is no internet.
- Location — Android requires it for Bluetooth scanning on older versions, and Emergency SOS puts your coordinates inside the alert you choose to send. We never read your location and never store it: that alert is end-to-end encrypted, so if a recipient is offline the relay holds only sealed bytes it cannot open, and deletes them on delivery. Location is never collected for any other purpose and never used for advertising.
- Notifications — alerts for new messages and incoming calls.
Sharing
We do not sell your data — but the honest answer is stronger than that: we do not have it. There is no account, no profile, no message history and no contact list on our side, so there is nothing for us to sell, rent, share, or lose in a breach. If someone demanded your chats from us tomorrow, we could not produce them. The app also carries no advertising, attribution or analytics code from anyone else.
Children
MeshXi is not directed to children under 13.
Your control
There is no account to delete. Uninstalling, or using Panic delete, removes everything the app holds about you. To have a World Chat post taken down, report it in the app or write to us.
